Music: We've Only Just Begun, Carpenters
Source: So Close
Length: 4:45
Content Notes: fantasy violence, bright flashes of light

Summary: A gun is like a bird. It's loud, it repeats everything you say and you shouldn't put rice in it because it might explode.

MP4 (82 MB): Mediafire
MP4 (21 MB): Mediafire

Film blurb: In the criminal justice system, the criminals are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the people who take down two hundred security personnel to the sound of the Carpenters' Close To You, and everyone else. These are their stories.

Notes: Oh, Hong Kong. If this were a cowboy movie, I'd give you my boots. Let's be pals.

(A few minor cosmetic changes have been made since these premiered at the con. And if there is someone out there who'd like to watch the intro & outro more than once, let me know and I'll make them available for download.)

P.S. But a Ghost has been fixed more thoroughly and for the last time and now I wash my hands of the damn thing... except to go back to mp4 a few days later because of the difference in quality.

I remember a job I had where they kept the office radio tuned to "KOIT: Soft music that feels good." It would have made a saint homicidal, especially since they played the same songs every. single. day. I still have flashbacks about "Lady in Red". ::shudder::

The movie sounds/looks amazing! I'm amused to hear that it's actually a logical match for this song.

One of the part-timers I work with always tunes into the classic hits channel, and I have to say, I am a better, wiser imbir than I was before I started working there. Did you know men have feelings and it entitles them to something? How about that it's never wrong for a son but always wrong for a daughter to live off the family money? I didn't, nor did I know it was possible to coast through the work day by listening to some frank discussions about how a girl's age is a serious problem. I'm sure everybody was shocked when the 1950's were sentenced to life without parole, but just listening to the radio makes me feel like an accessory to a crime. Of course, the most decent song turned out to be about an ex-con who would like to tell his sweetheart that it's been three long years and the choice is entirely hers.

...anyway, in the film, "Close to You" is what the younger sister (the computer hacker) pipes into the security system when her older sister is exiting the building (bowling a perfect strike through the guards) at the beginning of the film. The film uses Corrinne May's cover, who has quite the voice, as you can hear for yourself.

Wow, you got a lot more out of the Golden Oldies than I ever have. I can't even name the songs you're referring to, and I have spent plenty of time listening to "classic hits". Apparently I don't listen well.

Although I still squirm uncomfortably at certain Beatles songs, what with the jealousy provoking killing rages and so on.

Thanks for the link! That sequence was amazing. I appreciated being able to hear the gunshots and dialogue -- an American movie would have had the music be the only audio, I think, but I liked the realness of this (notwithstanding the tear-away suit).

And yes, that's quite a voice.
